An Introduction to Bayesian Statistics and It's Application to Scientific Research

Bayesian statistics is becoming increasingly popular in scientific research as an alternative to classical statistics. A fundamental difference between Bayesian statistics and classical statistics is that a different concept of probability is considered. In this webinar Dr. Mulder will give an introduction to Bayesian data analysis. Bayesian estimation, Bayesian credibility intervals, and Bayesian hypothesis testing using Bayes factors will be discussed. The focus will be more on the conceptual underpinnings of Bayesian methods and less on the technical and mathematical details. Applications from the social and behavioral sciences are used as motivating examples.

Speaker:
Joris Mulder, Tilburg University
